Some motivation from the Department
We hope these resources are useful.
1. Spaced Repetition - Knowledge organiser practice
- Use the resources on Showbie to access the Handy Hints Pack, Spaced Repetition Pack, Revision Resources handout and Knowledge Organisers for each topic to regularly learn and test yourself on key and threshold concepts for this subject.
- Spaced repetition revision ensures knowledge stays constantly fresh in your mind throughout the course. Make and use flashcards, taboo cards, mind maps and use Apps such as Quizlet to make revision more interactive.
- Over time, prior knowledge should be revisited from that week, a month ago, 2 months ago, etc.
2. Exam Question Practice
- Familiarise yourself with the exam question expectations for the exam. How will the exams be set out? What acronyms might help you remember how to answer the questions?
- Using the exam question revision pack, pick past paper/ example questions and try to answer it. Then, get it self, peer or teacher-marked.
- Using the Handy Hints revision pack, use the WAGOLL section to understand what the examiner is looking for.
3. RAG Rating
- At least once a month, read through the course content sheets and, using RAG (Red, Amber, Green) ratings, rate your knowledge on each part of the course.
- Then, using the textbook/ revision guide/ your own notes, address any mistakes, misconceptions gaps in knowledge.
- Repeat this process until you become more familiar with every part of the course knowledge becomes embedded into your memory.
